“Catholic Social Ethics: An Anecdote to Ideology” with Deacon Mike! In this course, Dr. Matthew Petrusek contrasts various ideologies with Catholic social ethics, demonstrating how only a Catholic worldview can shape our society into one where both the individual and the community flourish. Bible Study: “Unlocking the Mystery of the Bible” Join us for a bible study utilizing “Unlocking the Mystery of the Bible,” beginning Sunday, September 25 at Saint Vincent de Paul. Sessions start at 8:30am and finish in time for participants to attend Mass. This eight week study helps participants get the “big picture” of scripture by showing how fourteen narrative books of the Bible tell the complete story from Adam and Eve to Christ and the Church. At the heart of the Bible are the Psalms, prayers from God that help us to pray. In the Psalms: The School of Prayer, discover how these sacred hymns become our heartfelt response to God’s loving and wondrous deeds for us. In this 11-session Bible study, learn how to meditate fruitfully on the captivating words of the Psalms using lectio divina and study the many ways the Psalms foretell the life and mission of Jesus. This study will be held on Thursday evenings at 7pm in the Little White House at Saint Joseph, starting on September 29.
